On a sunny day on the Coolidge Avenue campus, youth from our residential treatment programs in Oakland welcomed their loved ones for a day of fun in the sun. The Avalon and New Yosemite staff come together with volunteers from different departments at FFYC to host a carnival for the participants each year, complete with games, prizes, snacks, and a water slide! Short term residential treatment program New Yosemite works with adolescents with developmental disabilities and/or autism who are in crisis to help them and their caregivers establish stability. Our longer term program, Avalon, includes a residential component and a non-public school, which work with youth who have diagnoses of both developmental or cognitive disability, and mental illness. Both programs provide intensive, 24-hour care to their participants.
